Materials:
- Bong
- water
- Herbs or tobacco
- Lighter or hemp wick
Step 1: Fill the bong with water until the end of the downstem (the tube that sticks out into the water) is about 2-3 cm under water. This ensures adequate filtration and cooling of the smoke.
Step 2: Grind the herbs or tobacco to a fine consistency. This ensures even combustion.
Step 3: Fill the bowl of the bong with the ground herbs or tobacco. Press lightly, but not too firmly, so that the air can pass through easily.

Step 4: Place your lips on the mouthpiece of the bong and hold the bowl with one hand.
Step 5: Light the lighter or hemp wick and hold the flame to the herbs in the bowl while gently pulling through the mouthpiece. The herbs should start to smoulder and produce smoke.
Step 6: When the bowl is full of smoke, remove the lighter and continue pulling to draw the smoke into the chamber of the bong.
Step 7: When you have collected enough smoke, remove the bowl or plug (depending on the bong design) and inhale the smoke completely.

Step 8: Empty the burnt herb or tobacco residue from the bowl. Clean the bong regularly to remove residues and impurities.
A clean bong ensures a better taste and a more pleasant smoking experience. You should rinse the bong with warm water after each use. For a more thorough cleaning, fill the bong with isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt, close all openings and shake it vigorously. Use bong brushes for hard-to-reach areas and allow the bong to dry thoroughly after cleaning. This will prevent mold growth and unpleasant odors.
